It’s all about ideology with no thought given to the principle that our elected officials are there to serve the people. Now they serve only the mighty dollar.

Chris
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1899138381040273260.post-59392380947906523952015-10-27T16:27:41.823-07:002015-10-27T16:27:41.823-07:00I don’t believe any kind of Armageddon is likely o...I don’t believe any kind of Armageddon is likely or imminent (although things can always get dicey at the drop of a hat if you happen to live in the middle of a major metropolitan area). I also don’t even believe any kind of reset of our financial, political, or social systems is imminent. However, I previously believed the country wouldn’t plumb these current depths until I was in my 70’s, so I’m a little bit annoyed that it’s happened by the time I turned 50.

Because the country/world has arrived at these depths sooner than expected, we’ve made changes in our lives (and continue to do so) that will ensure we will be able to live fun and fulfilling lives going forward regardless of the mismanagement of governments, repression of the banking system, or the aggravation of whatever other social ills may arise. Sure we will be impacted if things really fall apart, but me and mine will still eat, drink, and be merry!

I could do a whole blog posting about what five things we can each do as individuals that could potentially turn things around. I can tell you that if I was King, some of the policy issues I would enforce would include: stopping the destruction of the future by outlawing deficit spending and the debilitation of the greatest reserve currency in history, stopping the blowing and popping of serial bubbles like those in 2000, 2008, and now; forcing the Fed to abide by its mandate of 0% inflation and to stop destroying the wealth of the nation; and enforcing the provisions of Sherman/Clayton/Robinson-Patman anti-trust acts so that our healthcare costs would have remained manageable for the average person as an annual cash expenditure rather than morphing into the creature that is swallowing the entire economy. As it stands today, none of these things will ever happen without a forced system reset.John Vhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05172268733968579101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1899138381040273260.post-91511219048389945162015-10-27T14:58:13.357-07:002015-10-27T14:58:13.357-07:00John, lately I have made sure my meal has digested...John, lately I have made sure my meal has digested before reading your blog posts. So much gloom and doom. Guess the truth is painful to accept. You have painted the picture of imminent Armageddon. With that in mind, if you were king for a day, please list five "things" you would do to turn things around, knowing of course, that these "things" might take some time. Perhaps readers will chime in with their fixes.

Chris

ChrisAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
