A Different Kind of April

We came back to Northern Idaho earlier than normal this year to attend a forestry conference in Moscow. We were able to move back onto our place by March 29th, and that has made for some fun in the snow this year.

This is hardly any snow by most measures, but it was enough for us. The forest this time of year is free of brush and the visibility through it is amazing. A nice quiet walk through the woods during or after a snowfall is one on life's great pleasures.

Jake and Wesson seem to like this a lot better than the desert.

 Magic Hat has new spokesdog.

The snow is all gone now and it's time to plant some seedlings!

  1. Looks beautiful up your way! Not much snow compared to what family & friends got in Montana -- but just the right amount to be gorgeous! Glad you made it back home safely. And my, how Wesson has grown!

    1. We'll be spending next winter exploring through New Mexico, your old neck of the woods. We figure that this April in Idaho will help us prepare for the New Mexico winter!

    2. If you're in the vicinity of Raton, be sure to check out the NRA Whittington Center. Simply beautiful, elk wandering about, every kind of shooting range you can imagine. 2 campgrounds on their 50 (plus or minus) square miles.

    3. That place looks impressive. We never went north through NM that way. We're planning to spend next winter in NM, so if it's a reasonable weather year, Raton in March would make sense.

    1. Beautiful yes, but you can definitely take your time on your travels north until it starts to warm up a bit.
